Jun Hasegawa

Founder and Group CEO

Jun is a serial entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in the technology industry. He is the Founder and Group CEO of SYNQA, previously named Omise Holdings. The company’s mission is to connect people, businesses, and society in innovative ways that spread the wealth of financial opportunity and provide fair and open access to a growing economic ecosystem. Jun established SYNQA in 2015 to invest and manage companies that deliver fintech solutions and products to clients around the world.

With a background in design engineering and expertise in e-commerce, mobile payment and life log, Jun also founded Omise Payment in 2013 and OMG Network in 2017. Today, Omise is Southeast Asia’s leading payment service provider and the OMG Network is a fast and secured network to exchange digital assets.

He also founded 4Treasure, a location-based coupon service and LIFEMee, an aggregation platform that manages user’s financial statements. He also served as Director of Alpha-do Inc., overseeing large-scale projects with Japan’s biggest telecommunications company, NTT. 

Jun is a founding partner of BUIDL which was acquired by Securitize, a compliance platform and protocol for creating and managing digital securities. He is also a founding partner of DFCapital. Jun was included in Nikkei’s list of 50 people who will change the world.

Don Ezra Harinsut

Co-Founder and Group COO

Don is the Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of Omise, an online payment platform with a vision to provide “Payment for Everyone”. Prior to co-founding Omise, Don held leadership positions at Alpha-do Inc. as an International Trade Manager and International Trade Coordinator. He possesses over 12 years of experience in the telecommunications and the financial technology industries. Over the course of his career, he was involved in two large projects with NTT, Japan’s leading telecommunications firm; administering production in China, Thailand and Vietnam.

Don brings his innovative entrepreneurship to the financial technology sector aiming to revolutionize and set new benchmarks to the industry. Don co-founded Omise in 2014 and his leadership experience led Omise to extensive growth resulting in international expansion. Omise is now Southeast Asia’s leading payment service provider that operates in Thailand, Japan, and Singapore. He was appointed as the company’s Chief Executive Officer in April 2019 and continues to be the backbone in fostering local technical implementations, business tactics, and overseeing all company operations.

Besides running Omise, Don also spares time to personally guide, inspire, and share insights with SMEs and distinctive startups as keynote speaker in forums and workshops. In 2018, Don mentored his team and successfully won the Dtac accelerate program. He was selected to be an Endeavor Entrepreneur in 2019.

Jitthip (Aor) Suthammanuwat

Chief of Staff to the CEO

As the Chief of Staff (COS) to the CEO at SYNQA, Jitthip makes decision on behalf of the CEO specifically on topics such as corporate management, internal policy and processes, hiring, and budget approval. With a good overview of all business activities, she provides clarification on the direction and serves as the touch point between Jun and the teams on business development investments and investor relations. Jitthip has previously been working with Omise Payment as an Operations Manager and Director of Human Labs Operations. Prior to joining SYNQA and its subsidiaries, she has served as the Head of operations and Editor-in-Chief at Groupon, and was the Head of Content at Zalora group. She also worked at Agoda as a Public Relations Associate and Content Editor Associate.

Jitthip holds a BA in Communication Design from California State University Chico and an MS in Journalism from Boston University.

Rosarin (Jan) Choatkaew

Personal Assistant to the Group CEO

Jan is the Personal Assistant to the Group CEO. She joined Omise in 2016, serving as an assistant to executives and office manager for Omise Payment. In 2019, she transitioned to SYNQA full time. Jan provides support to the Group CEO to ensure smooth business operations. Among many other responsibilities, she oversees meeting and business trip arrangements and contributes to initiatives to ensure the well-being of staff at the office.

SoonHee Kim

Chief Investment Officer

SoonHee is currently the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of SYNQA. She oversees the group’s corporate investment strategy and corporate incubation. SoonHee has over 15 years of experience in an eclectic range of disciplines including strategy, trade and financial investment, international M&A, banking, digital marketing, and venture incubation consulting in Asia and the United States. As a former Director of a corporate venture capital, she specializes in guiding and providing hands-on expertise on strategies for equity building and business development at all stages to global startups. She also assumed a wide range of senior positions in the global banking and trading sector. 

Prior to joining SYNQA, she was a Partner at OPT SEA Pte. Ltd., the corporate venture arm of OPT Group listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. SoonHee is a recipient of the Global Corporate Venturing Rising Stars Award 2018.

Asuka Uesaka

Chief of Staff to the CIO

As the Chief of Staff to the CIO, Asuka serves as the touch point to facilitate communication between the CIO and all the teams at SYNQA. She provides hands-on support on projects to foster the company growth and help nurture investor relations. Prior to joining SYNA, Asuka worked as a Business Development Executive for Omise (Payment Gateway). Previously, she was the ASEAN Regional Business Development Manager and Energy Manager at Chaintope, a blockchain research and development startup, and she was a Project Manager at ETIC., an accelerator for social impact startups.  

Asuka holds a BA in Development Studies from Lund University in Sweden.

Kingkanok (Rak) Sa-ing

Executive Assistant to the CIO

Kingkanok is the Executive Assistant to the CIO. In addition to providing support to the CIO, she also supports the SYNQA team with IT related tasks. Kingkanok has over 15 years of experience in engineering and operations. Prior to joining SYNQA, she was the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technology Officer at OPTOK.CO. Ltd., a company that provides multiple online media solutions such as mobile search engine, ad network, and lead generator. She was also the Chief Technology Officer at Mhelp (now EdSystems Co., Ltd.), a worldwide distributor of pre-owned barcode scanners and printers.

Kingkanok holds a BA in Computer Engineering from Suranaree University of Technology and a MBA from King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi.

Nopporn (Golf) Thamcheewatad

Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A)/General Accounting Manager

Nopporn is currently the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A)/General Accounting Manager at SYNQA. She carries out accounting and finance activities, compiles results and reports. She utilizes her 10 years of experience in progressive finance and accounting to help the finance department.

Prior to joining SYNQA, she was the Accounting Manager at GO.Exchange, a company founded by SYNQA. She decided to shift her career into the startup world where she worked as a Finance Manager at eatigo and Zilingo. Previously, Golf was an Assistant Finance Manager at Kimberly-Clark, an External Auditor at Deloitte, and a Cost Accounting, Business Analyst and Internal Auditor at Siam Commercial Group. Golf has a BA in Commerce and Accounting and an MBA from Thammasat University.

Corey Harris

General Counsel

Corey is the General Counsel of SYNQA. He has considerable experience in fintech, regulatory compliance, private investment funds, and mergers and acquisitions with a specialization in cross-border transitions.

Corey has worked in various areas of the globe, specifically in North America, South America and Asia for over 10 years. Prior to joining SYNQA, Corey founded Veritas Global Law and Veritas Global Consulting. He was also a partner track Associate with Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, representing clients across the United States, South America and Asia across a broad range of corporate transactions. He began his career as a partner track Associate with Proskauer Rose LLP in the corporate law practice group.

Corey holds a BA from Hampton University in Political Science with a minor in Economics and Spanish, a JD from Boston College Law School, an MBA from the Boston College Carroll School of Management, a LL.M from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law. Additionally, he holds a certificate in financial valuation via the Valuation Program at the University of Oxford, Saïd Business School.

Kahoru Sakurai

Head of Corporate Legal

Kahoru is the Head of Corporate Legal at SYNQA. She is responsible for all the regulatory and compliance matters in Japan. 

Kahoru has a long track record of experience in practicing law, including 13 years in capital markets at Linklaters and Morrison & Forester. Additionally, she has held key positions in several in-house legal teams of various companies. She has a demonstrated experience in drafting and negotiating complex cross-border agreements, building in-house legal counsel, and advising senior management in diverse business sectors. Prior to joining SYNQA, Kahoru was leading the legal, compliance and risk team at Origami Inc., a Japan-based fintech company. She was also the Vice President of Compliance at Goldman Sachs Japan.

She holds a Bachelor of Law and Economics from Chiba University in Japan and a Bachelor of Law from Melbourne University. Kahoru is a dual qualified solicitor in Australia and in the United Kingdom.

Sonia li Trottier

Communications Specialist

Sonia is the Communications Specialist at SYNQA. She is responsible for managing the SYNQA website and social media accounts including the blog. She manages the editorial plan, writes marketing materials and articles for the company and ensure everything is on brand and aligns with the company’s vision, mission, values and goals. She also supports corporate management and knowledge management activities.

Prior to joining SYNQA, she was the Community Manager at GO.Exchange, a former subsidiary of SYNQA, managing external and internal communications. She has worked in various small grassroots and international non-profit organizations focusing on international development and environment around the world including Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and Greenpeace. Sonia holds a BA in International Relations and International Law at the Université du Québec à Montréal and an MSc in Environment at the Université de Montréal.

Petra Klerken

Director of People Operations

Petra is the Director of People Operations at SYNQA. She is responsible for human resources initiatives, clarifying internal policies to reflect company values, and introducing processes and structures. She also provides advice on onboarding, absenteeism, legislative matters, culture and exit procedures. She has more than 15 years of experience in building strong human resources departments. Petra previously served as Head of People of Operations at Omise. Prior to joining SYNQA and its subsidiaries, she was the General Manager and Lead Consultant at Witt/Kieffer International where she focused on growing the executive search firm in Hong Kong and Singapore. She also worked at CompaNanny Nederland B.V. as a Manager HR & Recruitment and worked at Maandag in various human resources related positions.

Petra holds a Human Resources Management degree from Saxion University of Applied Sciences.

Roy Naquin

VP, Strategic Planning

Roy is the VP of Strategic Planning at SYNQA. He is responsible for helping the company shape a clear vision of the firm through strategic analysis, market research, financial forecasting, and tracking industry trends to support business growth. He has a long track record of supporting small to medium sized organizations in setting and achieving strategic milestones. Roy has more than 15 years of experience managing a wide range of operational, finance, and engineering development projects. He previously served as the Chief Financial Officer and Director of GO.Exchange, a company founded by SYNQA. He also worked in the aerospace and defense systems technology solutions sector as an Avionics Technician and Material Control Manager for the United States Marine Corps. 

He holds an MBA from Pepperdine University, is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), and has completed the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt training program through UCLA Extension.

Takaaki Mizuno

Technical Advisor

Takaaki is the Technical Advisor to SYNQA. He is a computational scientist with a strong background in coding, service and system architecture design. He is currently the Chief Technical Officer at Nexus Frontier Tech, where he leads a team of over 80 researchers and engineers in AI research and development. Prior to his current role, he served as the CTO to more than five startups in Japan and Asia and he was the Director of Product in Vietnam and Technology Lead in Singapore for DeNA. Takaaki was also the first Japanese developer to join Baidu to work on mobile search engine research and development. He is the author of numerous publications including the book “Web API: The Good Parts” which became a best seller on Amazon Japan. 

Takaaki holds a BA in Organic Chemistry from Keio University and a MSc in Molecular Biology from the University of Tokyo.

Executive Vice President

Vansa is the Chief Executive Officer of OMG Network, a value transfer network that is set to solve blockchain’s scalability issues. As a layer-2 solution built on top of Ethereum, the OMG Network scales Ethereum’s transaction speeds to thousands per second and reduces transaction fees to 1/3rd. Vansa manages the direction of key leadership and business strategy of the company. Previously, She was responsible for implementing international development programs around financial inclusion, infrastructure investment, and social development at the World Bank.
